Personal Stories: Yesenia

Yesenia is the 4th sister in her family. She is 13 years old and currently in 9th grade of basic education. She claims to be one of the best students. Throughout the workshop she participated a lot and proved to be a very intelligent, retentive and highly capable child.

While we were walking to a place known as “La Cruz”, she told us that she dreams of studying law in the university, and then returning to help women in her community ensure that their rights are respected..  In Yesnia’s opinion, this does not happen in Angamarca.

“I want to study law, because in some cases men think they are more than women. Some Men dismiss women, and hit them. I want those things to change …”

Yesenia is clear that her community has serious problems of abuse against women, and that must change.  She wants to help bring change in her community through education and self-improvement.

Without a doubt, this tender and intelligent girl deserves an opportunity to fulfill her dreams. Every day she projects the energy of her desire to achieve her goals and be a part of the change. She deserves to obtain tools that allow her to realize her dreams.
